I took a bunch of outfit photos today and my photo session was photobombed by the cutest fluff-cloud. We were dog-sitting Luna and she has been tailing me everywhere for the past week. Luna likes cuddles, sleeping in Zoe’s bed and eating cat puke. We are not fond of the last part. I don’t think the cat likes it either because she has been bossing Luna around.

Do you ever wash your makes AFTER you’ve made them? Of course you do, but I mean, right after and before you wear them? I don’t always do it, because usually they look great and I just want to wear them. But sometimes, a little patience and a good wash are needed.

In this case, the shirt had a bunch of marks on it from my water soluble marker. I also felt that the stitches would set better in the corduroy fabric after a wash cycle. Although the tank top didn’t have any marks on it, the sewing process stretched the armholes a little bit (should’ve released that foot pressure!) and I thought a wash would be good for the fabric.

Do you ever do this?

I finally finished Sophie’s quilt! I left it mos

I finally finished Sophie’s quilt! I left it mostly finished with just binding left to do, and it has been sitting this way in my sewing room for months… I finally got myself together and finished the binding, which took me barely an hour. Sometimes I think it takes me more time to get myself together to finish something, than actually finishing it.

I rounded the corners for the ease of binding. I don’t like spending time making corners all pretty. Binding a quilt is the last thing that needs to be done before I use the quilt, so it needs to be fast, and round corners are easy and fast to bind.

I love this quilt. Right now I have been using it as a throw blanket for when Sophie is hanging out on the kitchen floor, because our floors are not always clean. I imagine the quilt will eventually make it into Sophie’s bed, once she is allowed blankets in it.

Here is a video of my fancy waistband in my fancy pants. It definitely required more work but I think the end result was worth it. My pants are so pretty from the inside!

The waistband itself has three pieces and a decorative bias. Only one piece of the waistband is interfaced, the other two are thick bias bands. The constriction is really interesting! And I love the final result with the attachment seam being covered. It is such a clean finish. Now, would I do it every time? Likely not. It was a lot of work. But I will definitely be doing this finish for special pants. I am also thinking I need to write a blog post on how to sew this waistband and incorporate the instructions into some kind of future pant pattern.

I winged this sweater. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted it to look like and I kind of went for it without making a muslin or anything first.

I used my knit block and estimated the distances and hoped it would work. And I think it did! I am very happy with this turtleneck. Its perfectly loose where it needs to be and tight where I wanted it to be tight, mainly in the forearm. I really didn’t want to add a cuff. Although I am going back and forth on whether I want to slim the body down around the hem. Almost give the turtleneck a balloon-ish shape, but not a full balloon. Just enough so that there is not too much fabric at the hem, you know? I might give it a try with another version of this turtleneck.
