I’ve been eyeing a midi length denim skirt. The ones that look like they have been made out of old jeans. I was even thinking of drafting a pattern, but then I realized I have a pair of jeans I don’t really like, but they fit in the waist and hips! So I improvised. I took the legs apart and put them back together as a skirt. How did I do it? I kind of figured it out as I went. I pinned the legs a few times, tried a skirt on a few times and there was a lot of seam ripping. A lot! This short video makes it look too easy. But it worked out in the end!

Well, until I decided to bleach it and ended up with some patchy spots…. 😐

Sophie started going to daycare in May, and she needed a bag to us to carry all her stuff. Instead of using a grocery store bag like we did with Zoe, it occurred to me I can make something nice! And that is how the Unicorn Bag was born. I used scraps of fabric I found in my sewing room to put it together and even though the colours of the bag are not what I originally planned them to be, I think it is perfect!

Of course I had to make a second, identical one for Zoe. She loved it too and said that next, she wants a bunny bag… lol

These jeans…. I love the idea of them, I love th

These jeans…. I love the idea of them, I love the fabric, I even love the execution, but I just don’t love the jeans. This is one of the makes that just not going to be worn, I am afraid… I think the biggest issue with these jeans is the fit. They are definitely too big on me. Although the oversized look is kind of in right now, I think oversized pants look better on others. On me they just feel… sloppy.

The pattern I drafted is definitely the problem. Although I tried it out on a muslin first, I felt that the jeans were a bit big when I was sewing them. But I was too lazy to do anything. I thought the fabric would shrink and so on. And then it doesn’t help that I’ve been running and exercising more and lost some inches off my waist and hips. Of course the jeans are now hanging on me…. What a bummer.

The fabric though is great! I love the feel of it and it softened up nicely after the wash. I imagine it would wear in nicely too. I’ll write off the jeans as a learning experience, but I will try to re-use the fabric for something else. Anyone knows of cool projects to re-purpose denim?

T-Shirt - #BeckTshirt by #AnnaZoePatterns, made in bamboo-cotton jersey from @‌water_tower_textiles (the store is closing 😟 ). The tshirt was hacked - longer sleeve and sides straightened out.

Every time I think I made the t-shirt of my dreams

Every time I think I made the t-shirt of my dreams, a few weeks later I realize I want a different fit. I thought my TNT pattern was off and I would need to find a new one. But recently I realized that it is okay to have more than one TNT pattern and love them all equally. In case of a t-shirt, some days I am looking for a looser, more oversized fit, and others I want a form fitting tee. I don’t need to have THE ONE true t-shirt… Such a freeing realization.

This t-shirt is my own pattern - Beck Tshirt, available on the website. The Beck was originally drafted as nursing tee, but I loved the fit so much I included a regular view as well. This version of Beck is hacked. I cut my usual size. but straightened out the side seam and added some length to the sleeve. The t-shirt feels a bit relaxed, yet not oversized. I love how it turned out! I now have plans to make a few more of these. Now I need to find the time.
